Yes, you need employees for great referrals, but it doesn’t end there! In order to maintain a successful referral program over the long term, there are a few critical tasks that you need to take care of on an ongoing basis.

Check out our list of what you need to do in order to maintain a successful employee referral program:

1. Daily: Follow up. Review your referral applicants daily (they are the highest quality candidates after all). It’s important to make referral applicants a priority, so reviewing them should be high on your to do list.

2. Weekly: Share new jobs. Share new jobs on a regular basis, so your employees are constantly updated on new referral opportunities. Zao allows you to automatically share new jobs with relevant departments and locations using customized campaigns.

3. Weekly: Clean up applicants. If applicants aren’t qualified, it’s important to reject them. Use a system that automatically updates employees about the status of their referrals, so you don’t have to do this manually.

4. Weekly: Feedback. Employees don’t know whether their referrals are qualified or not. It’s important to let them know, and give positive and negative feedback on referrals.

5. Monthly: Review engagement trends. Are your employees engaging in referrals? Sharing new jobs? It’s important to review these trends and see where you can improve. Zao’s analytics automatically track these things for you.

6. Monthly: Thank top participants. Rewards are great but a simple thank you still goes a long way. In addition to referral rewards, say thank you to your top participants at monthly company meetings.
